Character Statistic System

Post by Ararat on Sun Jun 10, 2012 10:59 pm

Disclaimer: These systems are under development and may require fine tuning. Don't cry, it'll be alright.

Yes, here at Fiore's Legacy, we use a Stat system. Well, we use a lot of systems. But Stats is undeniably one of them. What do Stats depict? Simply, they dictate how your character compares to another character. Stat differences have a profound effect on the outcome of a battle. Let's go over each Stat and what it does.

Statistics
Magic Power: This Stat depicts how much magical energy your character has at his disposal. Literally, it is synonymous to a magical pool of energy, of which depletes at every casting or use of magic. When this Stat reaches zero, your character automatically buckles to fatigue and loses the battle. This Stat has no relation to any other. This Stat may be increased by Tomes of Power that are available for purchase from the Magic Shop.

Offense: This Stat depicts how potent your character's non-status effect attacks are, whether of magical origin or otherwise. This Stat has a direct relationship with both itself and Defense. This Stat may be increased by Tomes of Strength that are available for purchase from the Magic Shop.

Special Offense: This Stat depicts how potent your character's status effect attacks are, whether of magical origin or otherwise. This Stat has a direct relationship with both itself and Special Defense. This Stat may be increased by Tomes of Knowledge that are available for purchase from the Magic Shop.

Defense: This Stat depicts how durable your character is to non-status effect attacks, whether of magical origin or otherwise. This Stat has a direct relationship with Offense. This Stat may be increased by Tomes of Fortitude that are available for purchase from the Magic Shop.

Special Defense: This Stat depicts how durable your character is to status effect attacks, whether of magical origin or otherwise. This Stat has a direct relationship with Special Offense. This Stat may be increased by Tomes of Resistance that are available for purchase from the Magic Shop.

Dexterity: This Stat depicts how nimble your character is, whether regarding movement speed or attack speed. This Stat has a direct relationship with itself. This Stat may be increased by Tomes of Agility that are available for purchase from the Magic Shop.

How Statistics relate to one another.
As stated numerous times above, each Stat has a direct relationship with another. What this means, simply, is that each Stat is compared with its related Stat to dictate a victor in conflict. Let's start:

Offense may "clash" with Offense or Defense.
  • When two combatants attack one another, and their non-status effect attacks clash, both character's Offense Stat is compared to asses the victor of said clash. Anything within a 25% point spread is arguable and based on role-play, although the higher end Stat holder has an advantage. Any difference past 25% of points is an assured victory for the character who holds the higher Stat.
  • When one combatant attacks another, the attacking character's Offense is compared to that of the defending character's Defense to asses how much damage was caused, if any. Anything within a 25% point spread is arguable and based on role-play, although the higher end Stat holder has an advantage. Any difference past 25% of points is an assured victory for the character who holds the higher Stat. In essence, if your character possesses a 25% higher Defense Stat than your opponent's Offense, your character will shrug off the attack.

Special Offense may "clash" with Special Offense or Special Defense.
  • When two combatants attack one another, and their status effect attacks clash, both character's Special Offense Stat is compared to asses the victor of said clash. Anything within a 25% point spread is arguable and based on role-play, although the higher end Stat holder has an advantage. Any difference past 25% of points is an assured victory for the character who holds the higher Stat.
  • When one combatant attacks another, the attacking character's Special Offense is compared to that of the defending character's Special Defense to asses how much the defender is affected, if any. Anything within a 25% point spread is arguable and based on role-play, although the higher end Stat holder has an advantage. Any difference past 25% of points is an assured victory for the character who holds the higher Stat. In essence, if your character possesses a 25% higher Special Defense Stat than your opponent's Special Offense, your character will shrug off the status effect.

Dexterity may "clash" with Dexterity.
  • When two combatants move about in an attempt to outmaneuver each other, both character's Dexterity Stats are compared to asses the victor of said competition. Anything within a 25% point spread is arguable and based on role-play, although the higher end Stat holder has an advantage. Any difference past 25% of points is an assured victory for the character who holds the higher Stat. In essence, if your character possesses a 25% higher Dexterity Stat than your opponent's Dexterity, your character can dodge all directed attacks and outpace his or her opponent.
